
Why Your UV Lamps Might Be Lying to You

We kept seeing the same problem: standard mercury lamps just couldn’t keep up. They’d struggle with thick inks or weird coatings, and on a high-speed line, that’s a disaster. It’s all about the deep dive
Most people think about UV lamps in terms of “brightness.” But brightness doesn’t matter if the light can’t get deep enough. Think of it like this: some inks have a habit of “skinning.” The top looks dry and glossy, but if you touch it, the bottom is still tacky. It’s frustrating. GaI lamps fix this by shifting the light to longer wavelengths. It’s less about a bright flash and more aboutpenetration. The energy actually reaches the base of the ink film, so it cures all the way through.
The heat headache
Now, here’s the catch. These lamps pack a serious punch, and that generates a lot of heat. If you just plug these in and run them at full blast without a plan for the temperature, your tube life is going to tank. It’s that simple. You’ll want to use forced-air cooling or maybe some water-cooled jackets. Keep that quartz envelope cool, or you’re just throwing money away.
Getting it onto your line
We didn’t want you to have to rip out your entire conveyor system just to upgrade your lights. That’s a nightmare nobody wants. We designed these to be drop-in replacements. They fit right into your existing arrays. Just do me a favor: double-check your power supplies. The voltage and amperage need to be spot on.
